Close the door, pull the opener's red release, lift the door by hand to about three or four feet and let go. A balanced door stays put. One that drops or climbs needs spring work.
It can limit one. Amarr cuts finish coverage and limits rust coverage on steel doors under 1.25 miles from a salt atmosphere, and Invicta excludes salt environments within 2 miles of the coast. Read the clause for your door.
Dry open-bearing rollers, worn hinges, loose track bolts or a spring losing tension. Nylon rollers run quieter than steel. Noise plus sticking is worth a look before something lets go.

Whoever is servicing it must attach a red warning certificate, and a replacement door may not be connected to it until it passes.
Test the balance and the reversal before relying on the door again, and check the opener's backup battery, which LiftMaster rates at one to two years in its integrated units.
